Mind Matters Psychiatry operates as a private practice, offering services for private fees only. We do not provide bulk-billing services.
Worker’s Compensation, CTP, and Medico-Legal Cases
Mind Matters Psychiatry does not accept Worker’s Compensation, CTP, or medico-legal cases. Please consult with your GP for alternative arrangements.
Medicare Rebate
- Referral Requirement: To be eligible for a Medicare rebate, all new patients must provide a referral letter from a GP or specialist at their initial appointment.
- GP Referrals: Valid for 12 months and must be renewed annually.
- Specialist Referrals: Valid for 3 months and require renewal every three months.
- Returning Patients: Patients returning after a one-year lapse must bring a new GP referral.
- Psychiatric Reports: Fees for psychiatric reports are calculated hourly and are processed on a prepaid basis.
Private Health Fund
Please note that outpatient psychiatry services are not covered by private health insurance.
Cancellation Policy
- A full consultation fee is required at the time of booking to secure your appointment.
- Refunds: Cancellations or rescheduling with at least two full business days’ notice are fully refundable, except for any non-refundable credit card surcharges.
- Late Cancellations: Less than two business days’ notice will result in forfeiture of 50% of the consultation fee.
Late Arrival Policy
To ensure timely and quality care, we ask patients to arrive at least 10 minutes before their scheduled appointment.
- Arrival within 15 Minutes: Appointments will proceed with the remaining treatment time, and the full fee will be charged.
- Arrival beyond 15 Minutes: Appointments will be considered a “no-show,” and the full fee will be charged.
Appointment Policy
Patients are responsible for scheduling follow-up appointments well in advance to ensure availability and continuity of care.
- The appointment item number and fee are estimates based on initial information and may be adjusted after the consultation based on the clinician’s assessment.
Collateral History
A comprehensive mental health assessment may include a collateral history from family, friends, carers, or health professionals, conducted either during the consultation or in a separate session.
Doctor Communication Policy
To minimize disruptions, doctors cannot take calls during consultations. Additionally:
- Questions regarding medical conditions, prescriptions, reports, certificates, or forms must be addressed during an appointment.
- Prescription Policy: Patients must attend a review appointment for prescription requests.
